"Sunshine Adult Family Home has been a wonderful home for my Mom. She moved to the home from an independent senior apartment after having a series of falls with injuries and onset of dementia. Our family feels very fortunate that we were able to place her in a "home" environment with a small group of residents instead of a large, assisted living facility. The staff are all professional and provide caregiving with kindness and attention to all the residents' individual needs. In addition, the caregivers work alongside my Mom's medical care team, for example geriatric doctor and hospice, to follow treatment requirements and medications. When I visit my Mom, I always find her well-groomed with clean & organized clothing. In her room, she is surrounded by special pictures and mementos from her life, which adds to her comfort level. The home is well appointed for the physical needs of the residents and includes comfortable furniture with an open concept. The residents share their meals together at a large table giving them a chance for conversation and a sense of community at mealtimes. Activities also happen at this table, whether is be reading the paper, doing a puzzle, or playing BINGO. This year during the holidays, I arrived to find the residents making gingerbread houses from a kit! Music is played often, which my Mom really enjoys.
